Monochromatic self-portraits

Our first project in CP Graphic Design 2 was a monochromatic, vector self-portrait. Students chose a color and created a value scale with it. They took their photographs using a webcam, converted those photos to grayscale, and traced the gray shapes in Adobe Illustrator. Using their value scale, they translated the various shades of gray from the photograph into shades of their chosen color. The complimentary color serves as the background to the portrait.
